AllSpark Solar Blankets are manufactured to the highest specifications, using premium grade materials including genuine SunPower Maxeon 3 premium grade cells. The thin, light weight and compact design makes for the perfect addition to any 12 volt set up. Integrated legs on each panel with eyelets: allow for the panel to be free standing with eyelets enabling the use of tent pegs in high wind situations. All solar cells reduce efficiency (and therefore power output) with increased heat, therefore laying a blanket flat on the ground or over a bonnet/windscreen is not recommended as there is no air flow between the cells and the surface. Eyelets on each panel: allow you to hang the blanket off the ground, from a roof rack, tree or the like, for the best angle in late afternoon/morning. Premium ETFE Laminate: not cheap PET plastics. This ensures longevity of the blanket, it also means the blanket will not corrode, discolour or blister. ETFE is UV stable for 25 years! The AllSpark 180W blanket is available in a choice of voltages: Low Voltage (23 volts open circuit) or High voltage (36 volts open circuit) - must have MPPT solar controller with at least 36V open circuit to run Some DCDC chargers on the market do not have the capability to handle the high voltage model. It is essential that you check your DCDC chargers specifications before purchasing the HV model. All DCDC chargers will safely handle the LV model, but only the Enerdrive DCDC plus all Victron or EP Ever MPPT controllers will safely handle the HV model. If you are unsure that you will be able to pair this blanket with your DCDC charger or existing solar controller, please contact us for further advice.

Why doesn't it come with a charger as standard?
Many people are now choosing to use DCDC chargers in lieu of the standard solar controller so their batteries remain topped up whilst driving. Because of this, we have chosen not to include a charger as standard because it is an unnecessary additional built-in cost for those who do not require one. Most blankets on the market that come standard with a solar controller are using a cheap, throw away unit that can limit the output of the panels. A good quality solar controller is essential to get the most our of solar cells.
Is 5m of cable long enough? What if I wanted a longer cable?
5m is generally enough for most people to run from their van/tent/vehicle (which may be in the shade) out to the sun. However, if you believe you will need a longer cable we have the AllSpark 5M Extension Cables available over here.
Can I mount this to my roof whilst driving?
No. Blankets are built to be lightweight, therefore the fibreglass backing board is not sufficient to support the cells in the extreme wind conditions created by a vehicle going at speed. The cells will vibrate in the wind, creating micro-cracks, which can reduce the efficiency (and therefore output) of the panel.
