These LV Automotive Maxi Blade fuses provide reliable overcurrent protection for high current circuits in cars, trucks, caravans and marine applications. Each fuse carries a 60 amp rating and is built in a maxi blade design for a robust connection in fuse holders and fuse boxes. The transparent Blue housing allows quick visual inspection of the fuse element and the solid metal terminals deliver low resistance and long service life. Designed for 12V and 24V electrical systems with a nominal voltage rating up to 32V, these fuses are suited to protect alternators, battery feeds, winches, heavy accessories and other high current wiring runs. They meet common industry requirements for automotive blade fuses and are suitable for workshop or mobile use. Always verify the amp rating against your circuit's continuous load and your wiring's current rating before installation, and replace with the same amp rating to maintain correct circuit protection. For safe replacement, isolate power, remove the blown fuse and fit a new 60A maxi blade ensuring proper seating in the holder.

FAQS

Q: What size maxi blade fuse should I choose for my circuit?

A: Match the fuse rating to the circuit's normal continuous current, but always stay below the wiring's current rating. For example, a circuit drawing 25A continuously suits a 30A maxi fuse, provided the wiring is rated for at least 30A. Never fit a fuse with a higher rating than necessary, as it reduces the protection the fuse is meant to provide. If you're unsure, consult your auto-electrician or call us on 08 6205 6868.

Q: Why do maxi blade fuses sometimes melt or fail to blow?

A: The most common cause reported by Australian caravan and 4WD owners is corrosion in the fuse holder, particularly from exposure to damp air, salty water, dirt or beach environments. Corrosion increases resistance, generates heat, and can melt the holder while the fuse itself stays intact, creating a fire risk. To prevent this, use corrosion-resistant fuse holders, keep them dry and clean, ensure connections are tight, and inspect regularly for discolouration, cracking or signs of melting on both fuse and holder.

Q: Are these maxi blade fuses suitable for 12V and 24V systems?

A: Yes. Rated for nominal voltages up to 32V DC, they suit standard 12V and 24V automotive, caravan, marine and 4WD applications. Not suitable for 48V systems or AC circuits.

Q: What's the difference between maxi blade fuses and standard blade fuses?

A: Maxi blade fuses are physically larger (29.2mm wide, 8.5mm thick, 34.3mm high) and rated for higher continuous currents, typically 20A to 120A. They're suitable for heavy circuits like winches, alternator feeds, battery main lines and high current accessory wiring. Standard blade fuses are smaller and used for lower current accessory circuits.

Q: How do I safely replace a blown maxi blade fuse?

A: First, isolate power to the circuit at the battery or main switch. Pull the blown fuse out of the holder using fuse pliers if available. Inspect the holder for any signs of corrosion, discolouration or heat damage and replace it if needed. Push the new fuse fully into the holder, making sure the contacts are clean and the fuse is seated firmly. Always replace with the same amp rating, never a higher one.

Q: What does the colour of the fuse mean?

A: Maxi blade fuses are colour-coded by amperage to make identification quick: yellow is 20A, green is 30A, orange is 40A, red is 50A, blue is 60A. Colour coding is consistent across the automotive industry, so you can identify the rating at a glance even when the printed value has worn off.
