Daily Power Usage Calculator

Work out your approximate daily amp hour (Ah) consumption so you can size the right battery bank, solar array and inverter for your off-grid setup. Select your fridge, add the 230V and 12V appliances you use, and the calculator totals everything - including a 10% inverter loss on AC items.

All figures are estimates at moderate ambient temperatures. For real-world accuracy, a battery monitor is always the best way to track actual consumption once your system is installed.

230V AC Appliances via inverter 0 Ah

Appliances that run through your inverter. A 10% conversion loss is already included. Set Uses/day to add an appliance to your total.

Custom AC: Ah is calculated per hour of use (includes 10% inverter loss). For partial-hour use, enter a decimal in the Qty column — 0.25 = 15 min, 0.5 = 30 min, 0.75 = 45 min.

12V DC Appliances direct from battery 0 Ah

Appliances running directly from your 12V battery — no inverter losses. Set Uses/day to add an appliance to your total.

ApplianceQtyUses/dayAh

Formula: Watts ÷ 12V ÷ 60 × minutes per use = Ah per use. No inverter loss applied.

Use this figure in the Off-Grid System Sizer to calculate the solar and battery bank you need.

How Ah is calculated: 230V AC appliances include a 10% inverter conversion loss (Watts × 1.1 ÷ 12V ÷ 60 × minutes). 12V DC appliances are calculated directly (Watts ÷ 12V ÷ 60 × minutes). Fridge figures are average 24hr consumption at moderate ambient temperatures. All figures are estimates — a battery monitor is the best way to measure actual consumption. Not sure where to start?
