Auto Electrician - 12 Volt Specialist

This is an opportunity like no other - we are looking for a self-motivated individual who wants the opportunity to manage this new part of our operation with the option to run their own stand-alone business in the future.

We are on the lookout for an experienced Auto Electrician with an eye for detail, a passion for supplying the highest quality workmanship and customer satisfaction AND the yearning for their own business.

Located in Wangara, WA, our team is small, but supportive, experienced, and passionate about providing exceptional customer service & off grid system advice. The Role:

This role demands a highly skilled, meticulous, trade qualified Auto Electrician with extensive experience in caravan and 4WD 12V fitouts in Australia.

Your journey with us will start in our store & warehouse in Wangara. Here, you will be provided with full training in our AllSpark brand and installation requirements. You will be providing expert technical advice on off-grid electrical equipment and accessories for 4wd's, caravans/campers, RV's, boats and more, along with service/repairs. This includes batteries, solar panels, inverters, and charging systems.

This role will help the customer design their upgraded DC installation and provide the right advice on all the gear they need to complete their new power system by doing it once, doing it right. After a short few months of training and integration with our systems, you will then transition to managing our new installation operation. There you will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with customers on their requirements and quoting for the supply and installation of new 12v/24v systems

  • Performing the installation work which includes electrical works and minor fabrication for the installation plus training and handover to the customer

  • Invoicing and payments from customers

  • Stock ordering for builds, inventory management and procurement of materials for fabrication

  • Building portable power stations, custom cabling and custom fabrication

  • At an appropriate time, recruiting, training and managing additional workshop staff (and potentially apprentice/s)

As a small business, some days it is just a matter of everyone helps everyone to deal with peak demand, so flexibility across many tasks will be required. It is important that you learn these skills also, as the ultimate goal for this role is for you to potentially take on the management of this opportunity.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Initially during training:

  • Providing advice on DC power systems/Off-grid power equipment and accessories for 4wd's, caravans and campers.

  • Answering phone calls, online/in person enquiries

  • Assisting with equipment and accessory sales.

  • Supporting general day-to-day business operations.

Short- term:

  • Quoting off-grid installations for 4WDs, caravans/campers, trucks etc.

  • Installation of off-grid installations

  • Purchasing of stock

  • Hiring of relevant staff

Long-term:

  • Managing a stand-alone auto-electrical business with support

  • Hiring of relevant staff

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of 12-48V power systems - experience with design and installation

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with 12-48V power systems design and installation is required - if you don't have this, please don't apply.

  • Meticulous workmanship - from precision terminations, to wiring works of art and extreme cleanliness, every installation needs to leave the workshop and customer vehicles flawless

  • Capability to work independently, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.

  • Competent computer skills with the ability to learn new software.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.

  • Personal experience and love of camping, caravanning &/or 4WD'ing.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Proof of quality/standard of worksmanship in application

Additional Details:
You will work Monday to Friday (generally operating between 7:30am to 4:30pm), with flexibility based on business demands. Attendance at 2-3 annual trade shows and occasional Saturdays 9am-12pm (mutually agreed) in peak periods.

We are a small business, so sometimes it's all hands on deck based on our business requirements during peak times. In return, we are flexible around family/social commitments.

Experience must be specifically in off-grid and automotive auxiliary DC power systems rather than general electrical or mining only experience.
