High Voltage Solar Panels

SERIOUS PANELS FOR SERIOUS OFF-GRID SETUPS

High voltage solar panels operate at an open circuit voltage above 32V, which makes them the right match for MPPT solar controllers with higher PV input ratings, 24V and 48V battery banks, and any setup where long cable runs would otherwise waste power as voltage drop. The AllSpark high voltage range is designed and developed in Australia, built around A-grade monocrystalline cells, and backed by a 10-year manufacturer's warranty on the glass fixed panels plus a 5-year warranty on the portable Quad Fold.

Whether you're upgrading a caravan to a 24V battery, running an off-grid shed or tiny home on 48V, or setting a portable panel 10 metres from your vehicle without losing output, the panels in this collection are built for serious Australian conditions and serious power demands.

Why Choose a High Voltage Solar Panel

Standard 12V solar panels (open circuit around 22V to 24V) work well for short, fat cable runs straight to a 12V battery. They struggle the moment you change one of two things: the cable run gets longer (over 5m), or the battery bank voltage gets bigger (24V or 48V).

A high voltage solar panel solves all three. By generating power at a higher voltage and lower current, more of the energy reaches your battery rather than being lost as heat in the cable. You can run thinner gauge wiring over the same distance. You can wire panels in series to stack the voltage for a 48V battery system. And you can take full advantage of a 100V MPPT controller's input range, which is where the best controllers do their best work.

Long Cable Runs Without the Output Penalty

Voltage drop is the silent killer of solar performance. A 12V panel pushing power down 10 metres cable can lose a noticeable chunk of its output before it reaches the battery. The same wattage delivered at twice the voltage halves the current, and voltage drop scales with current, so the loss is dramatically reduced.

For mounted setups on large caravan roofs this matters because cable runs tend to be longer than expected once you account for routing. For portable panels it matters even more, because the whole point of a portable is being able to park in shade while the panel sits in sun, sometimes 10 to 15 metres away. The portable AllSpark Quad Fold high voltage model is built specifically for this kind of distance work.

System Compatibility at a Glance

High voltage panels are paired with the right controller, not the right battery directly. The controller does the voltage conversion. The rule that matters is the panel's open circuit voltage (Voc) must sit safely below the controller's maximum PV input voltage.

12V battery system: Use a 100V MPPT (such as the Victron 100/30 or 100/50, or EP Ever Tracer 100V series). The MPPT steps the panel voltage down to charge the 12V battery. Most DC-DC chargers with built-in MPPT have a maximum solar input of around 28V to 32V and are not compatible with high voltage panels, so a standalone MPPT is required.

24V battery system: Same 100V MPPT works, configured for a 24V battery. A single AllSpark 24V panel pairs neatly with a 24V battery and a small MPPT. Multiple panels can be wired in parallel for more current at the same voltage.

48V battery system: Two AllSpark 24V panels wired in series produces a 48V array, suitable for tiny home, shed, and off-grid 48V setups paired with a controller rated for the resulting Voc.

Built for the Conditions Australian Solar Actually Faces

Every panel in the AllSpark high voltage range is designed for the conditions Australian solar actually faces. The glass panels are IEC 61701 salt mist certified for coastal and marine use. The aluminium framing is anodised for corrosion resistance. Cells are A-grade monocrystalline with a minimum 22.8% efficiency on the glass range, which means more usable power per square metre than most competing panels on the market.

The portable Quad Fold high voltage model uses Japanese ETFE laminate rated for 25-plus years of UV exposure, with shingle cell construction that outlasts standard portable panels with flimsy busbar connectors.

Which High Voltage Solar Panel Should You Choose?

For a fixed installation on a caravan, camper, shed, or tiny home: the AllSpark 24V Glass Solar Panel range is the right starting point. Available in 135W and 200W variants, fitted with anodised aluminium framing and 10-year warranty.

For a portable setup where the panel sits well away from the vehicle: the AllSpark 400W Quad Fold High Voltage portable panel is purpose-built. Run it on long extension cables without losing output, fold it down into the carry bag at the end of the day, and pair it with any 100V-rated MPPT.

For multi-panel arrays: two or more 24V panels wired in series or parallel give you the flexibility to scale capacity without overhauling the controller. Talk to us if you need help sizing the array to your battery and controller combination.
